LDS Prom Part 2

So.........
Vincent did go to Prom with another young lady in our Stake.  After a couple days of shopping, Amanda and I had everything ready to go.  I had forgotten how much goes into Prom.  And to tell you the truth, I didn't even do anything.  Some of the moms put together a wonderful dinner for the group of 24. Yes, I said 24!  They all had so much fun.

Amanda and I taking a break from
Prom Tie shopping... We HAD to
stop and eat :)

Too funny. The dry cleaners
mixed up Brian and Vincent's
suits.  Vincent had his jacket
with Brian's pants.

All smiles

The tables were so beautifully done.  The moms
did such a great job.

Volleyball Season Again

We are so proud of Vincent for going out and making the Barry Goldwater High School JV Volleyball team.  He is a starter for the left front postion.  He occasionally plays the outside hitter position also.

Sunday Surprise

Sunday's for us are pretty low key.  We pretty much go to church and then moisy around the house not really doing much.
This past Sunday we had a surprise visitor.  Well, Vincent had a surprise visitor that is.  What a delightful surprise he had.  A young lady standing at the door with a plate full of fresh cookies!  I will admit, Brian and I were trying so hard to listen in on the conversation AND get a taste of those warm chocolate chip cookies......
Well, with much sadness, we were given 1 cookie each while Vincent took his plate of cookies into his room, shut the door and "finished homework".... RiGHt he just didn't want to share.....
Stay tuned..... we are wondering if there will be a delivery this Sunday?

11 Months

That's right.... Our baby girl is turned 11 months on Monday.  We can't believe that she is almost a year old.  Time has gone by so fast.

She likes to stand up on her own, walk along furniture and push all of the kitchen chairs around.  Play with blocks, share her food (laughing while doing it) laughs and gets so excited when her brother walks in to the room.  She LUvS to yell and clap at Vincent's volleyball games.  She can't get enough fruit, cottage cheese and animal crackers.  She does not like her car seat but it pays off when she gets to take a ride in the grocery cart and starts bouncing as if she is riding a horse.
We can't believe how fast time has gone by.  Next month 1 yr...... :)

Is That MY Kitchen?

Ever since we moved into this house we have had a list more than a mile long of repairs and things we would like to replace.  One of the major projects was the kitchen.  Our countertops are the oLLLLLdddd white formica that stains, scratches and well just looks so unattractive.  And you have our cupboards.... I promise they are 16 years old along with the paint and barely hanging on.  One of them had a large hole in the insert that needed to be replaced.
Needless to say, the very spot that everyone ends up hanging out in needed some attention.
We found a kit at Home Depot for $75.00..... We are thinking what a steal.  (you now know how we used some of our Tax return)
After about three days of our kitchen being in pieces and literally all of the house and garage I completed the kitchen.  Or rather, Brian completed the kitchen by placing all of the cupboard doors back on for me while I was at work.  I could not believe the difference it made with not only all the work I had done but putting the doors back on.  It is amazing.  It doesn't even seem like my kitchen.

Our most attractive old, horrible looking
cupboards

It's a darn good thing we have doors

Yeah.... It's done

I can't beleive how different my kitchen looks.
Next project, the bathroom cupboards and
then kitchen & bathroom countertops!

Saturday Night Life

For about the last month or so Saturday nights have been busy here at the Nelson Nest.  Vincent has decided that he does not want to go to the dances on Saturday nights anymore.  Instead, he has invited all of the youth to come hang out here.
I have to admit, it is quite entertaining having at least 8 14-16 year olds hanging out on Saturday nights.  It's not always just food and movie night.  Some nights are extra funny.  Try listening to a bunch of teenagers play the game What If...... Now that is pure entertainment.  What makes it even better????  It's FREE.....
This past weekend Brian and I decided to mix it up a little.  We planned a Scavenger Hunt for all of the kids that showed up.  It was so darn funny!!!

There were rules implemented (even though some teams forgot to follow them) AND the list was definitely fabulous.  Especially since at least 3 items on there are not even real.... :)  We gave them 1 hr and 45 min.  The description the kids came back with in regards to those items were priceless.
I had already warned some of the Ward members and our Neighbors that they might be having some visitors with some crazy requests.
We split the kids up into 3 groups.  And off they went...... Some were back earlier than others, some followed the rules and some did not, some even had to rap to get their items. BUT.... They all had fun.

Team #1
